Graduation Day!!

Today is my graduation from community college. I had originally planned to only take the courses I needed to transfer rather than complete the two year associates degree. However, in the end I decided that life throws curve balls and one can never know what might happen, and a completed degree is an important accomplishment to have under my belt. So there you go. Barring a failing grade in any of my spring classes, I am the proud owner of a college degree.

In a way, the associate's degree seems puny and insignificant. Especially since I'm thinking about grad school eventually. It's just this teeny, tiny first step. However, it's been work and sacrifice on the parts of myself, my husband, my children, and even my parents, and in-laws. Everyone has had to help me out with driving, cooking, cleaning, and life in general so that I could work toward this goal. I've devoted three years of my life to being a college student, and I'm damn proud of it. Not to mention the fact that it is this work that has gotten me my scholarship to a great private college!

In any case, I'm obsessively checking my grades online, wondering if I'll maintain the 4.0 or not. I'm assuming grades should be posted before graduation, but maybe I'm wrong.

Congrats!

I work at a community college and know what a big accomplishment it is. You should definitely be proud.
